South Coast Tour: Glaciers & Waterfalls
Description
Are you eager to explore the enchanting scenery of the "land of ice and fire"? Join us on a day trip from Reykjavík, where we will delve into the south coast of Iceland, recognized for its dramatic contrasts ranging from majestic waterfalls to glacial fronts and volcanic black sand beaches.
Day Trip Overview
At the specified time, you will be collected from the chosen meeting point in Reykjavík and embark on one of the most picturesque journeys on the island. Are you prepared for the adventure?
Your first destination will be the stunning Seljalandsfoss waterfall, renowned for its unique pathway that allows visitors to walk behind the cascade, offering an incredible viewpoint. Nearby, conditions permitting, we'll also visit the hidden treasure of Gljúfrabúi, an ‘invisible’ waterfall tucked away behind a rocky crevice.
Next, we’ll proceed to the majestic Skógafoss, known as one of the largest and most photographed waterfalls in Iceland. With a impressive 60 m (196 ft) drop, this site often creates stunning rainbows on bright days. After absorbing the grandeur of Skógafoss, we'll head to the Sólheimajökull glacier, where we can approach the glacier’s ice tongue to admire the brilliant blue hues and preserved volcanic ash.
Following that, we will visit the renowned black-sand beach of Reynisfjara, where the relentless Atlantic waves crash against geological formations, including striking basalt columns and the notable sea stacks.
Our final stop will be the delightful village of Vík. Here, we’ll ascend to the celebrated church that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline before concluding our adventure. After a full day of exploration, we will return to the starting point, marking the end of our 10-hour journey.
