On this kayak tour of French Cay, you'll paddle through Roatán's mangrove channels and a protected bay, with the opportunity to snorkel in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. Prepare for an exciting adventure!

Activity Details

The adventure begins when you are picked up from your hotel in Roatán or the cruise port. We'll travel to French Cay, where a brief introduction will precede your kayaking experience. After getting your kayaks, we'll set off.

Paddling through the calm waters of the protected bay, you'll witness the striking outline of Roatán's mangroves. The tranquility is punctuated only by the songs of seabirds, providing a peaceful backdrop to your exploration. During this part of the tour, you'll spot native birds like the kingfisher and the blue heron.

As we navigate through the twisting mangrove channels, you'll observe how the reefs start from the submerged roots of the mangroves. This leads us to a strategic snorkeling location within the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, recognized as the second longest in the world.

Underwater, you'll encounter brain corals, sea fans, and elkhorn plants, which provide habitat for a diverse range of aquatic life. With snorkeling gear, keep an eye out for parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, and spotted serranos. There's also a chance of spotting a hawksbill turtle and, in calmer areas, seahorses and octopus. The underwater beauty of French Cay is truly remarkable!

After enjoying your snorkeling experience, we will paddle back to the dock at French Cay. From there, transportation will take you back to your hotel or the cruise port, concluding the tour approximately 3 hours after pickup.
