Tarifa, Zahara de los Atunes & Baelo Claudia Day Trip
Description
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Costa del Atún on this excursion from Jerez de la Frontera, where you'll explore Tarifa, Zahara de los Atunes, and the significant Baelo Claudia ruins.
Tarifa & Baelo Claudia Exploration
At the appointed hour, we will collect you at your selected bus stop in Jerez de la Frontera and embark on a scenic journey along the Costa de la Luz.
We will convene at the bus stop at the traffic roundabout on Puerto Street and head south, leaving Jerez de la Frontera behind. A picturesque route, recognized as one of the most stunning in Cadiz, awaits us: the Costa del Atún (Tuna Coast).
The first destination will be Bolonia Beach, home to one of the most significant archaeological sites in the region, Baelo Claudia, showcasing Roman ruins. This historic site, which dates back to the 2nd century, allows us to witness the remains of a fish-salting factory and renowned garum sauce, cherished in ancient times.
Following this, we will proceed to Tarifa, noted for being the southernmost city in Western Europe, situated alongside the Strait of Gibraltar. You will have the opportunity to explore the old town and appreciate its architectural landmarks, including St. Matthew the Apostle Parish and Guzmán el Bueno Castle. After this, you will have 1.5 to 2 hours of free time for lunch, during which you can savor delightful tuna dishes.
Our final stop will be in Zahara de los Atunes, where we will take a moment to walk along the remnants of its wall and take in the breathtaking views of its beach, regarded as one of the finest in Andalusia—a perfect conclusion to this extensive Cadiz tour!
In the late afternoon, we will depart from Tarifa to make our way back to Jerez de la Frontera, expecting to arrive approximately 10 hours after our departure.
