We will gather at the entrance of the Francisco Carrusca cork factory at the scheduled time, commencing our guided exploration of this facility located on the periphery of São Brás de Alportel, nestled in the heart of the Algarve.
Did you know that the cork oak tree holds the title of Portugal's national tree? From its bark, we obtain cork, a versatile and eco-friendly material. During this informative tour, you will witness the selection process of this remarkable material, along with the creation of various artisanal and decorative pieces.
We will also delve into the traditional techniques used for extracting and crafting cork, gaining insight into the various tools and objects necessary for its manipulation, which are influenced by the flexibility of each cork variety.
The experience will wrap up after an hour at the factory's shop, where you can discover and purchase a variety of cork fabric accessories.
