Tour Details
We will convene at the Plaza Mayor, right in front of the Tourist Information Office, at the specified time. This impressive baroque square serves as a gathering spot for locals and represents the vibrant pulse of the city, making it the ideal starting point for our adventure.
Our exploration will begin as we traverse the Rúa Mayor, the central thoroughfare of the historic district, en route to the Casa de las Conchas, a 15th-century residence adorned with over 300 intricately carved scallop shells. Nearby, we will also view La Clerecía, an impressive baroque edifice that dominates the landscape from across the street.
Salamanca's fame is largely attributed to its status as the location of one of the world’s oldest universities. We will pause to admire the remarkable structure featuring its captivating Plateresque facade, a true highlight of the experience. Hidden within this ornate stonework is the iconic frog—will you be able to find it?
More wonders await as we delve into the Patio de Escuelas Mayores and the Patio de Escuelas Menores, not to mention the breathtaking Cielo de Salamanca, a medieval fresco depicting the night sky that is sure to leave you in awe.
Our journey concludes with a visit to the city's two cathedrals: the Old and the New, which stand majestically side by side. We will discuss the unique history behind Salamanca having this pair of cathedrals, a rarity you won't find in many other European locales.
After approximately 1.5 hours of uncovering the hidden gems of Salamanca, our tour will draw to a close, leaving you with lasting memories of this enchanting city.
