Excursion Overview

Our journey to the Machín volcano begins at the central park of Salento at the appointed time. Let's gear up for an incredible exploration!

During the off-road adventure, we'll navigate the National Trail, recognized as one of South America's oldest pathways. This experience promises stunning views and a deep dive into a region steeped in history.

We'll pause at the Nevados viewpoint, where you can indulge in a delectable Colombian coffee while soaking in the spectacular scenery, including sights like the Cascada de la Ceja. Afterward, a traditional breakfast awaits us beside the striking wax palms. Did you know that these palms, which can reach remarkable heights of up to 70 meters (229 feet), are native to the Colombian Andes?

Revitalized, we'll proceed to Toche, where a local lunch will be served amidst the charming ambience of this quaint town. Renowned for its picturesque architecture, Toche lies nestled in one of the world's most breathtaking mountain ranges, the Andes. Along our route, we will also encounter one of Colombia's most unique cemeteries, located within a forest along the National Trail, offering an intriguing perspective.

Once we arrive at the Machín volcano, you’ll have about three hours of leisure time to wander around the vicinity of this majestic volcano in the coffee region. Remember to bring your camera, as you’ll want to capture the stunning stalagmites found on the cave floors.

As our adventure concludes, we'll return to our starting point in Salento, wrapping up the day at 7:30 pm.
