Tour of Salento and Cocora Valley
We will meet at 9 am at the Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen, located in the heart of Salento. From there, we will board our jeeps and set off toward the stunning Cocora Valley. Along the way, we will delve into the coffee culture of this area and explore the diverse plant life that characterizes the region.
Our journey will include a stop at a mountain viewpoint where you'll be treated to a spectacular view of the Nevados National Park. You'll be amazed by the abundance of wax palms that dominate the landscape! Did you know that the Cocora Valley is recognized as the home of Colombia's national tree? We will share intriguing details about this fascinating plant during our drive through the valley, while also admiring the vibrant flowers and observing the birds soaring above us.
Following our explorations, we will head back to Salento for a visit to the town's historic center. Before our guided tour begins, we will enjoy a satisfying traditional lunch featuring trout and patacón (twice-fried plantain). A true culinary delight!
After lunch, we will stroll through the picturesque streets of Santo, taking in the vibrant façades and flower-adorned balconies that define this charming municipality in Quindío. We will also reflect on the origins of Salento and its significant historical events. To cap off our Salento journey, we will visit the serene Bosque de Palmas, a natural wonder that is sure to captivate your heart!
Our experience will conclude at 3 pm back in the center of Salento, where we will bid farewell.
