San Antonio de los Cobres & Tuzgle Hot Springs Day Trip

Embark on an enriching day trip to San Antonio de los Cobres, where you'll explore a town perched at the pinnacle of Route 40. This journey also includes a visit to Santa Rosa de Tastil and an opportunity to unwind at the Tuzgle hot springs.

Day Trip Overview

At the scheduled time, you will be collected from your hotel in Salta and begin your ascent into the Puna Salteña, navigating through the striking landscapes of the Quebrada del Toro. Throughout this scenic route, you'll encounter impressive viaducts associated with the Tren a las Nubes, a remarkable feat of engineering against the backdrop of the Andes.

After nearly two hours of travel, our first stop will be in Santa Rosa de Tastil, a small town famous for one of Argentina's key archaeological sites. Here, you can take a 30-minute break to stretch your legs and refresh yourself.

Continuing our journey for another hour, we will arrive at San Antonio de los Cobres. Positioned at an elevation nearing 4000 meters (13,000 feet) above sea level, this locale is renowned as the highest point along Route 40.

You will have a leisurely 1 hour and 30 minutes to immerse yourself in the contrasts of the rugged high plateau and the hospitality of its inhabitants. This is also a great time to savor some traditional local dishes.

The next highlight of our excursion leads us to the Tuzgle hot springs. After an hour’s drive, we will arrive at this thermal sanctuary, where the vast and open landscape of the puna unfolds before you.

At the Tuzgle hot springs, you will enjoy 1 hour and 30 minutes of free time to relax in the inviting warm waters, surrounded by the unique hues of the high plateau environment.

Concluding our adventure, we will begin the 3.5-hour journey back to Salta. Your day will wrap up with a drop-off at your hotel, marking the end of a memorable 15-hour experience.
