Details of the Day Trip

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Salvador. From there, we will delve into significant locations associated with Axé culture, a key Afro-Brazilian movement that thrives in Bahia's capital.

The initial stop is at Dique do Tororó. Here, at this unique natural spring in downtown Salvador, you will encounter an impressive array of sculptures representing the orixás. These entities are rooted in the Yoruba religion from West Africa and hold a vital place in Candomblé, one of Bahia’s leading Afro-Brazilian faiths.

Next, our journey takes us to the Ilê Axé Ogum sanctuary, a revered Candomblé temple that also features the Fonte de Oxum, whose waters are considered holy.

After exploring the sanctuary, you will enjoy a pause in the vicinity, allowing you 2 hours of free time for lunch. Once you have savored a meal, we will head to the Feira de São Joaquim market. There, you can browse through numerous stalls offering an array of crafts, spices, herbs, traditional foods, and religious artifacts related to Afro-Brazilian practices.

Our final destination will be the Mãe Menininha do Gantois Memorial, honoring one of Salvador’s most influential spiritual figures in Candomblé. Here, you will explore her story and lasting impact, which continues to resonate since her passing in 1986.

Following our visit to the memorial, we will make our way back to your hotel in Salvador, anticipating to arrive approximately 8 hours after the initial pickup.
