Salto de La Jalda Day Trip + Horseback Ride

Day Trip Overview

Our adventure begins at the designated time when we convene at the Santorino restaurant in Samaná. After gathering everyone, we’ll set off for Salto de La Jalda. Did you know this impressive waterfall is the tallest in the Dominican Republic? Join us as we delve into the lush scenery of Caribbean forests!

The first leg of our trip involves a scenic ferry ride across Samaná Bay, leading us to Sabana de la Mar. Following about an hour on the water, we’ll transfer to a minibus that will transport us to the entrance of Salto de La Jalda National Park in Magua. Here, we’ll prepare for an extraordinary experience. Are you ready to ride?

Mounted on calm horses, we’ll traverse the trails of La Jalda National Park, an area bursting with an array of tropical flora, cacao and coffee farms, and diverse wildlife.

During our ride, we'll alternate between horseback riding and walking trails, ensuring you experience every facet of this remarkable environment. After approximately 2.5 hours of exploration, we’ll reach the magnificent Salto de La Jalda, recognized as one of the country’s most stunning waterfalls and the tallest in the Caribbean, measuring over 120 meters (around 390 feet)! Here, you’ll have the opportunity for a rejuvenating dip in its natural pools with their crystal-clear waters. A snack will also be provided amidst this breathtaking backdrop.

You will have an hour of leisure to wander around Salto de La Jalda, soaking in the idyllic surroundings. Once refreshed from this enchanting experience, we’ll mount our horses once again to commence our journey back. Craving something to eat? Upon returning to our meeting point, a light picnic-style lunch will await you, perfectly tailored to fuel your journey back to Samaná.

We’ll then board the ferry once more from Sabana de la Mar, concluding our day trip at the port of Samaná 12 hours later.
