From 1934 to 1963, Alcatraz operated as a maximum security penal institution, housing inmates deemed particularly dangerous. Among its past residents were infamous figures such as Al Capone, Robert Franklin Stroud (known as “The Birdman of Alcatraz”), Mickey Cohen, and Rafael Cancel Miranda.

San Francisco Bay Boat Ride
A visit to San Francisco is incomplete without taking a boat ride across the bay. Departing from Pier 39, your hour-long journey allows you to see various key landmarks of the city.
The boat heads towards the stunning Golden Gate Bridge, showcasing views of locations including Fort Mason, the Marina District, Crissy Field, and the Presidio Hills. After you pass under the Golden Gate, the route continues along the Marin Headlands, Sausalito, and Angel Island State Park.
The adventure wraps up with a scenic loop around Alcatraz Island before heading back, where you can admire the breathtaking San Francisco skyline.

After booking, you will receive information about available times for the San Francisco Bay ferry excursion.
If you select the night tour, you will first embark on the boat ride, followed by your visit to Alcatraz.

After making your reservation, the local provider will send you your Alcatraz tickets directly and will also send you your boat trip tickets, along with the available departure times.
Alcatraz Ferry
On the day of the activity, head to Pier 33–Alcatraz Landing, at the indicated time for your ferry to Alcatraz Island. The night before the tour, you'll receive a QR code that you must present when boarding the boat. Please be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
Bay Cruise
On the day of the cruise, head to Pier 39. Before taking the cruise, you'll receive further information about the exact meeting point as well as a schedule detailing the departure times—you may take whichever cruise is convenient for you. Please keep in mind that you will need to exchange your voucher for your boarding ticket before accessing the boat. For this reason, please be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time of your desired cruise.
