Chicamocha River Rafting

Explore the breathtaking Chicamocha River during an exciting 15-kilometre (9-mile) rafting adventure suitable for all ages, while also traversing a distinctive dry forest.

Description

On the scheduled day, participants will gather at Cra. 10 in San Gil to embark towards the Chicamocha River. The journey will take us through the picturesque Santander region, and after approximately 1.5 hours, we will reach one of the most significant rivers in central Colombia.

Once we arrive, a concise briefing from our instructor will prepare us for the experience ahead. Equipped with safety gear, we will settle into our rafts and commence paddling. As we navigate the waters, we’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Chicamocha Canyon, a site that was recognized in 2012 as a contender for one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World.

For between 2 to 3 hours, we will journey through stretches of exhilarating rapids, feeling the adrenaline surge as we maneuver down the 15-kilometre (9-mile) expanse of the Chicamocha River.

Aboard our rafts, we will then enter the enchanting regional coffee forest, relishing the breathtaking views of the verdant plantations lining the riverbanks. As we delve deeper into the canyon, we will uncover an ancient colonial village before taking a moment to immerse ourselves in the cool, inviting waters of the Chicamocha.

To conclude the adventure, a traditional lunch awaits us, wrapping up an exhilarating day after 6-7 hours of enriching activity.
