Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in San José, followed by a drive toward the Caribbean coast. As we traverse Braulio Carrillo National Park, our expert naturalist will share insights into this vital ecosystem known as the “green lung,” highlighting its lush cloud forests and breathtaking waterfalls as you view them from the bus.

Our first stop will be a chance to savor a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Here, you’ll enjoy gallo pinto, eggs, fresh fruit juice, and coffee, providing an excellent start to the day. Additionally, throughout the journey, you will receive a bottle of water and some banana chips for snacking, allowing you to learn about the extensive banana plantations you’ll be passing.

Arriving at the dock, we’ll transition from our bus to a boat, embarking on an exploration of the Tortuguero canals. As we cruise through the lush tropical rainforest, keep an eye out for the park’s remarkable wildlife, including monkeys, sloths, toucans, crocodiles, and the elusive green sea turtle, which nests here in significant numbers.

Before we break for lunch, get ready for an invigorating hike up to Cerro Tortuguero. As the tallest point in this region, it provides stunning panoramic views over the canals, jungles, and the distant Caribbean Sea.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, we will return for a traditional Caribbean lunch featuring a range of dishes. Options include rice and beans with chicken, beef, or fish, casados, hamburgers, as well as vegetarian selections like pasta or burritos. Every meal is accompanied by a fresh salad, a fruit salad, and homemade desserts like coconut flan or brownies. If you fancy a cup of coffee, just let the staff know.

Following our meal, we’ll leisurely stroll through the charming town of Tortuguero and explore its beach, a delightful area that embodies a relaxed lifestyle. As our day comes to a close, we will begin our return journey to San José, making a stop for a break along the way.
