Day of the Dead in Tlaquepaque
We will convene at the well-known letters of Tlaquepaque at the arranged time. Here, a brief overview will be provided, delving into the historical context, symbols, and profound meaning that the Day of the Dead embodies in Mexican culture. Prepare to engage deeply with this celebration!
If your participation aligns with November 2, our first stop will be the Cementerio Municipal de Tlaquepaque. We will respectfully wander through its mausoleums, observing how families honor their departed ones. Additionally, we will partake in a meaningful act: we will adorn an often-overlooked grave with flowers and a small offering, ensuring that no soul embarks on their journey without a guiding light.
Following this, we'll proceed to the Centro Cultural El Refugio. Inside, we will explore various rooms filled with vibrant altars and temporary exhibitions, together uncovering the significance of essential components like papel picado, marigold blossoms, and pan de muerto.
Our exploration continues along the historic Calle Independencia, where we will meander through art galleries and shops showcasing ceramics and crafts. Amidst this vibrant ambiance, you will soak in the festive spirit and admire the elaborate decorations that transform Tlaquepaque’s streets during this period.
Our journey will culminate after 3 hours at the Jardín Hidalgo. Located in the heart of the Pueblo Mágico, we will recount final legends and bid farewell after a genuine connection with the spirit of the Day of the Dead in Jalisco.
