This 2-day expedition presents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Peru's Austro-German heritage, focusing on the captivating locales of Oxampampa and Pozuzo.

Day 1: Oxapampa

Your adventure begins at 8 am, with a pickup from your hotel in San Ramón before heading towards the charming province of Oxampampa.

Upon crossing a scenic bridge, we'll reach the Mezapata viewpoint, where stunning vistas of the Paucartambo canyon unveil, marking the natural demarcation between the regions of Junín and Pasco. A brief stop at a traditional mill will precede our next destination.

Once in Chontabamba, we will explore its stunning wooden church, a testament to the craftsmanship of the Austro-German settlers. Following this visit, we will continue to Tunqui Cueva and tour a dairy factory, sampling a variety of local products.

In the afternoon, we arrive in Oxapampa for a guided exploration of key sights, including the Plaza de Armas, the Colonists' promenade, and the Santa Rosa church, an exquisite example of European-influenced architecture. The day concludes with an overnight stay in Oxapampa.

Day 2: Pozuzo

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we embark on our drive through the Yanachanga Chemillen National Park, where you'll enjoy views of the spectacular Rayantambo and Yulitunqui waterfalls, cascades along the Tunqui River.

Our journey takes us to Pozuzo, recognized as the first Austro-German settlement in Peru established in the mid-19th century. We will tour its charming wooden churches and other iconic structures, including the bridge of Emperor Wilhelm I and the Schafferer Museum, which narrates the stories of European immigrants in this region.

We will also visit the monument dedicated to Father Joseph Egg, a Tyrolean priest who supported the settlers' endeavors. Before heading back to San Ramón, we will pause to take in a breathtaking panoramic view of the Oxapampa landscape. You will return to your hotel in San Ramón by evening.
