2-Day Tour of the Gulf of Fonseca

Day 1

We will commence our two-day exploration of the Gulf of Fonseca early in the morning, a stunning sanctuary located in the Pacific Ocean, renowned as the finest natural harbor globally.

The first destination will be the Conchagua Volcano, a protected area situated at the gulf's western edge. Here, you will be able to enjoy unmatched panoramic views across the region, making it a perfect opportunity for fantastic photographs - so do remember your camera!

While reserving your spot on this tour, you may opt to replace the visit to Conchagua Volcano with a trip to Las Tunas Beach, an idyllic location ideal for basking in the sun and savoring delicious seafood, a local delight.

Next, we will embark on a guided exploration of Conchagua town, home to one of the oldest churches in El Salvador. A visit to a local market will allow you to sample the famed pupusas, a scrumptious traditional Salvadoran dish.

As day one draws to a close, we will travel to La Union, where we will spend the night.

Day 2

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will make our way to the Central American Port of La Union to board a boat for our first stop: the island of Meanguera.

We will spend about half an hour on this island, uncovering its volcanic origins and the unique fact that the borders of El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua converge here.

Back on the boat, our next destination will be Zacatillo, an island where you can indulge in its exquisite cuisine at one of the local restaurants. You will have approximately two hours to explore the island at your own pace.

Following our visit to Zacatillo, we will sail to another beautiful island in the Gulf of Fonseca, this time to Isla Conejo, known as Rabbit Island, a small isle currently under dispute with Honduras.

Our journey will conclude with our return to the port of La Union and our trip back to San Salvador, marking the end of this enriching experience.

Accommodation

This two-day tour includes one night’s accommodation at the Comfort Inn Hotel, a four-star establishment. Additionally, breakfast will be provided on the second day.

Pickup Information

The package includes pickup service from hotels located in San Salvador and El Tunco. When booking, you will have the option to choose your preferred pickup location. If you opt for pickup in El Tunco, we will collect you from your hotel 40 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
