Layover Experience in San Salvador

Your adventure begins as we greet you at the arrivals area of El Salvador International Airport. From there, we will embark on a guided exploration of the city.

Our first stop will be the Armed Forces Military Museum, a facility housing 14 rooms filled with over 35,000 artifacts, including cannons, coins, and helicopters, all of which narrate the historical journey of the city.

Continuing, we'll stroll through the city center, where you can admire Libertad Square, the city’s oldest square. Additionally, you’ll visit the Rosario Church, notable for its distinctive design created by the artist Rubén Martínez. The itinerary also includes the Plaza Morazan, Plaza Barrios, the newly constructed National Library (access subject to local regulations), and other significant sites reflecting the city’s revitalization.

Next, a visit to the Monseñor Romero memorial, commemorating a key figure from the 1980s known for his advocacy for peace in El Salvador, will be on our agenda.

Following this, we will enjoy a panoramic drive to appreciate the beauty of the capital, including views of Plaza Salvador del Mundo and the vibrant Zona Rosa neighborhood. As a delight to your senses, we will pause at a local eatery to savor a plate of pupusas, a beloved traditional dish made with rice or corn tortillas filled with cheese, beans, or pork.

Lastly, we will make our way back to the airport, with an anticipated return time of 4-6 hours, depending on your layover duration.

Duration of Layover

The journey between the airport and the city center takes approximately 90 minutes, and it’s advisable to arrive at the airport 2 hours prior to your departure. Thus, a minimum layover of 7.5 hours is recommended to fully enjoy this tour.
