2-Day Trip to Cabo de la Vela

Embark on a fascinating two-day journey to Cabo de la Vela where you'll explore the breathtaking scenery of Colombia. Throughout this excursion, experience the remarkable juxtaposition of the desert landscapes and the Caribbean coastline.

Day 1

Your adventure begins early at 4:30 am when we will meet you at your accommodation in Santa Marta. Climb into an off-roading vehicle and set off towards our first destination.

After approximately two hours on the road, we will reach Palomino. Here, we will take a brief respite to admire the stunning snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta while enjoying breakfast.

Next, we will continue our journey for another hour to Riohacha, arriving in Uribía, recognized as the indigenous capital of Colombia. This area is predominantly populated by the Wayúu community, who have inhabited these lands for centuries. Take the opportunity to delve into its rich history.

On our ride, we will visit the Manaure Salt Flats, witnessing the expansive ponds where salt production takes place. Following this, we will traverse the Ahuyama desert on our way to Cabo de la Vela, appreciating the unique and striking landscapes along the route. It's time for a delightful lunch! We will savor a traditional meal at a Wayúu ranchería.

After two hours of leisure time, we will hike to the rainbow beach to experience a breathtaking sunset. Later in the evening, we will head back to the ranchería for dinner, stargazing, and a night of rest in comfortable hammocks.

Day 2

As dawn breaks, we will rise and indulge in a wholesome breakfast at the ranchería, fueling up for the day's adventures!

We will then set out towards Pilón de Azúcar and Playa Dorada. Upon arrival, a short 10-minute walk will lead us to the peak of Pilón, where you can witness the stunning Colombian sunset from the lighthouse. In this serene setting, take a moment to absorb the tranquility around you.

Afterward, we'll head back to the ranchería for a satisfying lunch. Following our meal, we’ll make our way back to Santa Marta, passing by the Malecon for a stop to purchase handcrafted artisan souvenirs.

Your enriching two-day excursion will conclude as we return to your hotel in Santa Marta.
