2-Day Trip to Cabo de la Vela

Embark on a 2-day adventure to Cabo de la Vela, where you'll unveil some of the most breathtaking views Colombia has to offer. Throughout this journey, the striking contrast between the desert landscape and the Caribbean Sea will captivate your senses.

Day 1

We commence our journey at 4:30 am, picking you up from your accommodation in Santa Marta. A comfortable vehicle awaits to transport us to our initial destination. Let's set off!

After a two-hour drive, we will reach Palomino. Here, we will take a brief pause to gaze upon the snow-blanketed heights of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta while enjoying breakfast.

Our next leg is a one-hour drive to Riohacha, arriving in Uribía, the indigenous heart of Colombia. The majority of the residents here belong to the Wayúu community, which has a rich historical presence in the region. This stop will provide an insightful glimpse into their cultural heritage.

From the vehicle, we’ll traverse the Manaure Salt Flats, witnessing the ponds where salt is harvested. Following this, we will continue our journey through the Ahuyama desert en route to Cabo de la Vela, absorbing the stunning vistas of this land of diversity. It’s lunchtime! We will pause for a traditional meal at a Wayúu ranchería.

After a leisurely two hours, we’ll hike to the rainbow beach, where you'll have the chance to experience an unforgettable sunset. Later that evening, we will return to the ranchería for dinner, stargazing, and a restful night in hammocks, preparing for the next day's adventures.

Day 2

Awakening with the sun, we will savor a hearty breakfast at the ranchería to fuel our day!

Our expedition then leads us to Pilón de Azúcar and Playa Dorada. After a 10-minute walk, we'll ascend to the summit of Pilón, where stunning Colombian sunsets at the lighthouse await. You'll have the opportunity to revel in the serene atmosphere of this stunning location.

Afterward, we will head back to the ranchería for a delicious lunch. Our return trip to Santa Marta will take us along the Malecon, where there will be time to purchase handcrafted artisanal souvenirs.

Your 2-day expedition will conclude as we bring you back to your hotel in Santa Marta.

Tour Options

During your booking process, you'll have two transport options available:

• Standard Tour: Travel via bus or minibus.
• Off-Roading Vehicle Tour: Experience the journey in an off-road vehicle, limited to a maximum group size of 6. If your group exceeds this number, the standard tour will be required.

Accommodation

• With the standard tour, one night of lodging in hammocks at a beach ranchería is included.
• Choosing the off-roading vehicle tour grants you a comfortable bed for your overnight stay.
