Day Trip to Cienaga Stilt Housing

We will begin our journey at 5:30 am with a pick-up from your accommodation, proceeding to the Islas del Rosario dock. Here, you will embark on a remarkable boat excursion through the Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta. This stunning area is recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve and lies just a short distance from Cienaga.

As you navigate the waters, you will have the opportunity to observe the diverse flora and fauna, meandering trails of verdant landscape, and the tranquil lagoons that characterize the swamp region. Along these waterways, you will encounter quaint fishing settlements referred to as 'pueblitos palafitos' (small stilt housing villages).

The tour will include a visit to one of these communities, where you can gain insights into the customs and daily life of the locals. This experience promises to be truly memorable! Following the village visit, you will savor a traditional dish featuring either fish or vegetables, allowing you to explore the essence of local flavors.

After the meal, we will board our minibus for the return trip to Santa Marta, with an expected arrival time of 2:30 pm.
