Activity Overview

We will meet you at your hotel at the scheduled time, after which we'll set off toward the mouth of the Don Diego River. Are you ready to embark on this remarkable safari adventure?

Following about an hour's journey, we will reach the point where the Don Diego River merges with the Caribbean Sea. Here, we will embark on a boat that will guide us to the river's southern mouth, a perfect vantage point for witnessing the wildlife native to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Throughout the 1 hour and 15 minute exploration along this part of the river, you can expect to see howler monkeys, capybaras, and a rich variety of bird species such as herons, shorebirds, kingfishers, butterflies, toucans, and, if we are fortunate, eagles.

After the safari, we will proceed to a beach area, where we will leave the boat to enjoy the sunset while we prepare a cozy bonfire. You will receive insights into the Arhuaco culture, an indigenous community from the Sierra Nevada region.

As the night sky begins to light up with the moon, we will board the boat once again for a remarkable return journey upstream. During this segment, remain alert, as it is the perfect opportunity to spot alligators in their natural habitat amidst the lush greenery.

In total, this experience lasts approximately 3.5 hours, after which we will return to our starting location.
