Tour Overview for 4 or 5 Days

Day 1: Santa Marta Arrival

Your adventure begins at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Santa Marta (we can also arrange pickup from your hotel). After settling into your accommodation for the night, we'll get our journey underway by visiting the Muelle de Rodadero dock, where a boat awaits for a trip to Playa Blanca.

Enjoy lunch at a seaside restaurant, with free time to savor the beach until 3:50 PM. We will regroup at around 7:30 PM to return for dinner before embarking on a panoramic evening tour around Santa Marta aboard a Chiva Rumbera. It's sure to be a memorable experience!

Day 2: Santa Marta to Tayrona National Park

After a hearty breakfast, your pick-up will be arranged from your hotel as we set off for Tayrona National Park. To appreciate the environmental diversity of this renowned natural area in northern Colombia, we will partake in a hiking excursion through its lush tropical rainforest. This approximately two-hour trek will allow us to witness various endemic flora and fauna.

Our route includes stops at the beaches of Arrecife and Arenilla and Cabo San Juan del Guía, where you can swim in designated areas. In the late afternoon, we will transfer you to your chosen accommodation—either camping by the sea or a cabin at the park's entrance.

Day 3: Tayrona to Palomino

After breakfast, we depart Tayrona toward the Palomino River, embarking on a scenic 50-minute hike to the Seweika Indigenous community. Following this hike, we will enjoy tubing down the river until we reach the Caribbean Sea.

Lunch will be served at a beachfront restaurant, after which we will take you to the Primaluna de Palomino Hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 4: Return to Santa Marta

After breakfast at the hotel, you will have time to relax and explore the nearby beaches. Later, we shall return via the main road to Santa Marta, where we will drop you off at the airport. Should you wish to extend your stay and continue exploring this charming Caribbean city, you are welcome to do so.

5-Day Tour Option

If you prefer a more extensive exploration of the Colombian Caribbean, consider adding an extra day to your trip.

Days 1, 2, and your final day will mirror those of the 4-day itinerary.

On day 3, we will travel to Cabo de Vela. Journeying from Tayrona towards Palomino, we will pause to admire the scenic Colón and Bolívar peaks of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta before continuing to Riohacha. Here, we will board a 4x4 to reach Uribia, the indigenous capital of Colombia, where you can meet the Wayuu people and visit the Manaure Salt Heaps to observe the salt extraction process.

Next, we will cross the Ahuyama Desert toward Cabo de Vela. Lunch will be served at a local ranch, followed by a walk to Playa Arcoíris. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the beach, including the beautiful Dorada and Ojo de Agua beaches, while catching a breathtaking sunset. In the evening, we’ll return to the ranch for dinner and spend the night either in hammocks or a Wayuu cabin.

On day 4, after breakfast, we will head to Pilón de Azúcar, climbing to its summit, which is considered a sacred site. Enjoy stunning views before we make our way to Playa de la Virgen, where you can take a refreshing swim. After lunch at the ranch, we will proceed to Palomino for a restful night at the Primaluna Hotel.

This tour provides 3 or 4 nights of full board accommodation, with the following arrangements:

• Santa Marta (Rodadero or historic center): Hotel Rodadero, La Riviera, or similar
• Tayrona: coastal camping or cabins in Río Pierda
• Palomino: Hostal Primaluna, Bikini Hostel, or similar
• Cabo de Vela (only available on the 5-day tour): Rancheria, Harraipia, Saguipa, or similar
