Explore the Barrio Yungay
Our adventure will commence at the Quinta Normal Park metro station, conveniently located near the Museum of Memory and Human Rights. Are you prepared to delve into one of the most colorful neighborhoods in Santiago de Chile?
The excursion starts at the Museum of Memory and Human Rights, which honors those who suffered during the Augusto Pinochet military regime. Following this, we will visit the esteemed Gabriela Mistral Education Museum, recognized as a National Monument.
We will then stroll through Pasaje Adriana Cousiño, famous for its vivid architecture from the 1920s. Continuing to explore this period, we’ll check out Pasajes Lucrecia Valdes and Adriana Cousiño, both showcasing neo-Gothic residential buildings initially constructed for the middle class of Santiago de Chile.
The next landmark is the Peluquería Francesa, a refined early 20th-century structure characterized by its stunning architectural facade, exemplifying Yungay's charm.
Our journey will lead us to Plaza Yungay, where the Monumento al Roto Chileno honors Chilean triumphs in the war against Peru and Bolivia in 1839. We’ll also take a moment to appreciate the Alamo Palace, a celebrated piece of Yungay known for its fusion of classical French mansion elements and art nouveau styles.
Continuing onward, we’ll arrive at Plaza Brasil, a vibrant hub filled with playgrounds, eateries, and local pubs. Our concluding destination will be the Concha y Toro neighborhood, an architectural retreat in Greater Santiago. After an enriching 2-hour exploration, we will say our goodbyes.
