Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Santiago to start this day trip in a reduced group to Cajón del Maipo. Your adventure begins as we prepare to discover one of Chile's natural gems.

Our first destination will be San José de Maipo, a picturesque town with rich cultural heritage about 31 miles (50 kilometers) from the Chilean capital. Here, you'll uncover its history and folklore while enjoying breakfast at your own pace.

After our stop, we’ll capture photos at the shores of the Maipo River, which flows directly from Andean glaciers. We will then continue our journey to the breathtaking Embalse del Yeso, known for its striking turquoise blue waters. If the weather permits, a short hike in the area will be an option.

Weather permitting, we may also visit El Yeso Park to further appreciate the stunning scenery. Later, it will be time for lunch at your own expense in one of the local restaurants, providing a great opportunity to sample some authentic Chilean cuisine in a unique environment.

Once we’ve revitalized, we’ll immerse ourselves in rural Andean life to learn about local customs and the crafting of handmade products. To conclude our experience, we’ll enjoy a small picnic featuring cheeses, olives, salami, wine, and juices.

Finally, before heading back to Santiago, we’ll make a stop at the Plaza de San José de Maipo. We will conclude the day by returning you to your hotel approximately 9 to 10 hours after the pickup.
