Military and Historical Museum of Chile Guided Tour

On this guided tour of the Historical and Military Museum of Chile, we'll visit this iconic building in Santiago and learn about the country's past through a large collection of uniforms, weapons and other objects.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the Historical and Military Museum of Chile, located on calle Blanco Encalada in Santiago. A brief description of the surroundings and the building's historical significance will be provided.

The guided tour will begin in the rooms dedicated to the period between the 15th and 19th centuries. We will observe the weapons from this period and learn about the evolution of military tactics and strategies, starting with the artifacts from the Inca civilization and continuing with the discovery and conquest of Chile.

This part of the tour concludes with a discussion about the government of General Bernardo O'Higgins and the incorporation of the island of Chiloé into the Chilean national territory.

We will then move to the rooms focused on the 19th and 20th centuries. This section covers the constitutional trials, the Revolution of 1829, and the War of the Pacific, along with the Civil War of 1891.

We will examine objects related to these conflicts and the role Chile played during both World Wars and the Cold War. The tour will conclude with information about the current Chilean Army and its role in natural disasters.

This 3-hour activity will end in the lobby of the museum, after which you can explore the museum on your own.
