Description

Discover the intriguing bohemian district of Bellavista along with the lively markets of Patronato on this insightful journey. This tour reveals two distinct aspects of Santiago.

Walking Tour of Patronato and Bellavista

We will gather at the agreed-upon time in Plaza de Armas to commence our exploration of Patronato and Bellavista.

The first location on our itinerary is the Central Market, an impressive steel edifice from the 1800s that historically marked the division between the upper-class and the working-class sections of Santiago.

Following this, we will head north to the city's primary culinary market, Mercado de la Vega, and then to the Pérgola de las Flores market, renowned as the inspiration for a classic Chilean musical from the 1960s.

Our adventure will lead us to Patronato, a neighborhood that embodies the diverse backgrounds of immigrants, including Arabs, Koreans, and Palestinians, who found a new life in Chile's capital. The Patronato House, built by Palestinians in the 20th century, stands as a symbol of this rich cultural legacy. We will pause at an Arab restaurant to savor a lunch which consists of a main course and a beverage.

Once we have finished our meal, our path will take us through the vibrant streets of Bellavista, where we will ascend to Cerro de San Cristobal. During our leisurely walk in this picturesque area, we will also stop by La Chascona, one of the homes of the esteemed Nobel laureate poet Pablo Neruda.

As we wrap up our tour, we will arrive at Plaza Camilo Mori to explore the life and artwork of the notable expressionist painter. The excursion will conclude at Patio Bellavista, the culinary hub of the district, offering a delightful closing to our experience after approximately 3 to 3.5 hours of touring.
