Route Without El Yeso Reservoir Visit

Beginning from our designated meeting point in Santiago, we’ll depart heading southeast towards the Cajón del Maipo. Let’s get started!

After a 1-hour drive, we will reach the charming town of San José de Maipo, a quaint community with roots dating back to the 17th century, known for its rich mining history and strong Andean traditions. A leisurely stroll through the Plaza de Armas will allow us to appreciate its colonial architecture and the ambiance of its historic buildings.

Our next stop will be the enchanting Casa Chocolate, reminiscent of a fairy tale. Here, alongside enjoying its distinctive façade crafted from recycled materials, we will have the chance to taste artisan chocolate made from local ingredients, a delightful way to warm up in the Andean chill!

Following our 30-minute visit, we will return to our vehicle for a brief 40-minute journey to El Morado Lodge. This tranquil retreat nestled in the mountains will welcome us with a delightful pisco sour, a glass of sparkling wine, or fresh water.

A sumptuous lunch will be served, featuring choices such as beef shank in a rich red wine broth paired with mashed potatoes, or grilled salmon complemented by capers, cilantro rice, and arugula.

Afterward, enjoy 2.5 hours of leisure in the indoor and outdoor thermal pools, where the experience becomes truly magical. Breathe in the pure Andean air amidst a serene atmosphere.

Our day will conclude with the journey back to our original meeting point in Santiago, marking a total duration of 10 hours.

Route Including El Yeso Reservoir Visit

Alternatively, when reserving, you can opt for the itinerary that includes a visit to El Yeso Reservoir. After completing the same guided tour through San José de Maipo, we'll head to Adicción del Maipo, a local café celebrated for its artisan chocolates.

Instead of continuing to Casa Chocolate, we will visit the stunning El Yeso Reservoir, situated at over 2,500 m (8,202 ft) above sea level in the heart of Cajón del Maipo. Surrounded by the majestic Andes Mountains, we’ll embark on a panoramic walk to fully embrace this natural beauty while inhaling the fresh mountain air.

Following this excursion, a delightful outdoor brunch showcasing seasonal regional specialties will be served, all while taking in breathtaking views of the Metropolitan Region.

The itinerary will continue at the Santuario del Río Lodge and Spa, where we’ll be greeted with a pisco sour. A lunch featuring traditional Chilean cuisine will be provided, paired with wine or a drink of your choice. Subsequently, unwind with a spa session and hot tubs surrounded by stunning natural scenery.

This 10-hour day trip will conclude with a return to the meeting point in Santiago.

Please be aware that due to winter conditions, this option will not be available from mid-May to late September.
