Trip to A Coruña & Betanzos

A 9:30 am, we will depart from the Capilla del Pilar located in Santiago de Compostela. Following a drive of about 60 minutes, we will reach the vibrant city of A Coruña. Our adventure begins at the iconic Tower of Hercules, recognized as the world's oldest Roman lighthouse.

After exploring the Tower of Hercules, we will embark on a guided walking tour of A Coruña's historic center. Here, we will uncover the notable landmarks and charming streets surrounding the central Plaza de María Pita: including the Church of San Jorge, the Church of Santiago, the Mirador, the San Carlos Gardens, and Riazor Beach.

Following approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of free time for lunch, we will depart A Coruña towards Betanzos. This enchanting medieval town was once one of the seven provincial capitals of the ancient Kingdom of Galicia. You will soon discover why the old quarter is officially recognized as a Historic-Artistic Site.

During our guided exploration of Betanzos, we will visit the church of Santa María del Azogue, the church of Santiago, and the temple of San Francisco. At each site, we will pause to admire its cultural and artistic significance. As a delightful treat, we will sample the renowned local omelette, which has earned national accolades.

Our journey will conclude with a return to Santiago de Compostela, arriving by 6:30 pm.

Note on the Tower of Hercules

The tour includes entry to the Tower of Hercules; however, please be informed that due to renovations, access to the tower will not be permitted until June 30, 2026. Our visit will be limited to viewing the exterior during this period.
