Cíes Islands Day Trip
Description
On this day trip to the Cíes Islands from Santiago, we'll explore an Atlantic archipelago, known for its spectacular, unspoiled beaches and turquoise waters.
Day Trip Details
Starting at number 31 Rúa das Casas Reais, next to Porta do Camiño, we will depart south from Santiago de Compostela.
After approximately 1.5 hours by road, we will reach the port of Vigo. From here, we will board a ferry for a 1-hour crossing to the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park, which includes the Cíes archipelago.
Our first stop will be Monteaguado Island, adjacent to Rodas Beach, a beautiful stretch of over 1 km (0.6 mi) known for being declared the best beach in the world by The Guardian in 2007. Upon arrival, a brief orientation from the guide will be provided, after which you will enjoy 4.5 hours of free time to explore the Cíes at your own pace.
You can traverse the trails that lead to the Cíes Lighthouse or the Alto do Príncipe viewpoint, a remarkable 122-m (400.3 ft) high cliff offering breathtaking panoramic views. Feel free to take a refreshing swim in the Atlantic or visit the beach bar on Monteagudo Island to recharge.
At the end of the day, we'll reconvene at the pier to board the ferry back to Vigo. After disembarking, our road journey will take us back to the original meeting point in Santiago de Compostela, concluding this 11-hour trip.
