Finisterre, Muxía, & Costa da Morte Day Trip
Description
Immerse yourself in the breathtaking vistas of Cape Finisterre and the rugged beauty of the Costa da Morte on this full-day excursion departing from Santiago de Compostela. Experience one of the most stunning coastal segments of Galicia.
Tour Overview
Our journey commences at the agreed meeting point in Santiago de Compostela. After approximately 30 minutes en route, we will reach Ponte Maceira, a notable waypoint for pilgrims on their way to Finisterre, where you will hear intriguing tales from the locals.
Continuing, we will arrive at the coastal town of Muxía. Near the Sanctuary of the Virxe da Barca, we will delve into the Camino de Santiago and explore its numerous mysteries and tales. During this visit, the legend of the pedras d'Abalar and dos Cadrís will also be shared.
Our adventure leads us along the Costa da Morte to the iconic lighthouse at Cape Finisterre. Set against these spectacular backdrops, we will recall the various legends of ships that met their fate on these shores, once deemed by the Romans as the edge of the world. Following this, enjoy free time for lunch in the charming village of Finisterre, where local Atlantic delicacies await.
Post-lunch, our next destination is the town of Muros, before we proceed to the stunning Ézaro waterfall, the only river in Europe that flows directly into the sea. Just south of here, we will explore one of the largest hórreos (traditional Galician granaries) globally, located in Carnota.
After visiting the notable hórreo in Carnota, our path leads back to Santiago along the scenic Muros estuary, traversing the legendary Costa da Morte.
