Day Trip Details

Our gathering point will be in front of the Capilla del Pilar, from where we will embark northeast, departing from Santiago de Compostela. Following a pleasant drive, our first stop will be the city of Lugo, famous for its well-preserved walls stretching over 7,000 feet.

Upon arrival, enjoy a guided tour of Lugo’s historic center, lasting approximately an hour and a half. Key highlights include the cathedral of Santa María, a UNESCO World Heritage site constructed over a century.

We will also view the Roman wall, which encircles the old town and is considered one of the best-preserved structures from Roman times on the Iberian Peninsula.

After exploring Lugo, we will proceed to the next segment of our trip: the breathtaking Aguas Santas beach, popularly known as the Cathedrals beach. This beach earns its name from the impressive rocky formations along its fine white sand, resembling the soaring buttresses of Gothic cathedrals.

Here, we will take a leisurely stroll, timed perfectly with the low tide, allowing us to pass underneath arches that rise over 100 feet. As you wander, listen to the powerful waves crashing against these monumental rocks. This area, recognized as a Natural Monument, is regarded as one of the finest beaches in Europe.

Our next destination will be the picturesque town of Ribadeo, situated near Cathedrals Beach. We will appreciate the façade of the elegant neoclassical Casa Consistorial and other notable landmarks, as well as the port area. You will have some leisure time to indulge in the exquisite Galician cuisine.

Afterward, we will visit Illa Pancha, a true natural treasure located just outside of Ribadeo. You will have 1 hour of free time to explore the surroundings of this islet, admire its picturesque access bridge, and capture photographs of the iconic lighthouse set against the Bay of Biscay.

At the conclusion of our visits, we will reconvene at the bus and make our way back to the original meeting point in Santiago de Compostela, where the day trip will come to an end.
