Day Trip: Wormsloe & Bonaventure Cemetery
Your adventure begins at 9:30 am when we pick you up from the Savannah Visitor Centre. Our first destination will be the esteemed Bonaventure Cemetery, a site celebrated for its stunning beauty.
During our guided exploration of this cemetery, established in 1846, you will walk beneath oak trees draped in Spanish moss, casting a tranquil shade over the elegant 19th-century funerary monuments. The intricate sculptures found on the gravestones exhibit a level of artistry that is both striking and poignant.
As we navigate through this serene resting place, you will encounter the graves of several notable individuals, including the famed composer Johnny Mercer, Mary Telfair, a notable philanthropist, and Edward Telfair, recognized as Georgia's inaugural governor.
Following our cemetery tour, we will make our way to the Erica Davis Lowcountry Restaurant, where you will have an hour to indulge in some authentic Southern cuisine, featuring grilled specialties and delightful seafood options.
Post-lunch, we will set off to visit the Wormsloe Plantation. This Historic Site, nestled on the scenic Isle of Hope, is famed for its enchanting oak-lined pathways. The site is steeped in Georgia's history, particularly linked to a pivotal event - let’s uncover this story together!
Our excursion will conclude with a brief stop at the Savannah Byrd Cookie Company before we return to the meeting point in Savannah, arriving around 3:30 pm.
