Landmannalaugar Day Trip
Description
Vibrant mountains, hot springs, and volcanic landscapes await you on this day trip to Landmannalaugar from Reykjavik.
Day Trip Details
Your journey begins at the designated meeting point in Reykjavik at the scheduled time in the morning. From there, you will head towards the Highlands of Iceland, the location of the stunning Landmannalaugar nature reserve. Known as the "pearl of the central Highlands", this area is characterized by its unique volcanic valleys.
Upon arrival in Landmannalaugar, you will start a light trek to explore the enchanting landscape. During this trek, you will wander through an area dotted with rivers and lakes, including the captivating Hnausapollur, a volcanic lake that is over 10,000 years old, featuring extraordinarily blue waters. As you trek, you will be treated to striking contrasts of color, from the turquoise Lake Crater to the vibrant greens and rich reds of the surrounding mountains.
While exploring the hills of Landmannalaugar, you will have the opportunity to witness the valley's vivid hues up close. After a 3-hour trek, you will have free time to rest and have a meal to recharge.
Your adventure continues with a visit to the region's natural pools, where you can take the time to relax in the thermal springs while enjoying the stunning views around you.
As you make your way back to Reykjavik, the route will take you past Hekla, one of Iceland's most active volcanoes, known to erupt every few decades. Historically referred to as the Gateway to Hell during the Middle Ages, this impressive peak adds an intriguing element to your return journey.
After approximately 13 hours of exploration, you will return to the meeting point in Reykjavik.
