Seville Alcázar Early-Morning Guided Tour
Description
Imagine wandering through the historic halls of Europe’s most ancient royal palace, all while avoiding the hustle and bustle of large crowds. This morning guided tour of the Alcázar of Seville allows you to enter the monument right as it opens, granting you an exclusive experience as one of the early visitors.
Tour Overview
Your journey commences in the Hall of Justice and the Plaster Courtyard, the oldest section of this stunning complex. Here, we will uncover remnants of the Almohad palace from the 12th century and admire its distinctive horseshoe arches and intricate plaster decorations.
Next, we move on to the Casa de la Contratación, a Renaissance structure that played a pivotal role in overseeing trade with the New World. Within its walls, we will explore the Admiral’s Hall and the Chapel of the Navigators, significant centers of Spanish power during the Age of Exploration.
The pinnacle of our tour is the Palace of King Pedro. This section includes a visit to the Hall of Ambassadors, beneath its stunning gilded dome, the Courtyard of the Maidens, the charming Mudejar-style Courtyard of the Dolls, the Hall of Charles V adorned with Flemish tapestries, and the historic Bedroom of the Moorish Kings.
After marveling at the architecture, we will step outside to wander through the Gardens of La Galera, characterized by their classic Renaissance layout, and the Gardens of Troy and Dance, where centuries-old orange trees and labyrinthine hedges foster a serene atmosphere.
One of the highlights will occur as we descend to visit the Baths of Doña María de Padilla. These underground vaults create a stunning interplay of light and shadow reflected on the water.
We’ll traverse the Gallery of the Grotesque, a corridor adorned with 16th-century Italian murals, culminating at the Mercury Pond. After taking in the grandeur of the Gothic Palace, distinguished by its lofty ceilings that contrast with the remainder of the complex, we will offer you free time to explore the gardens. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the English Garden and the Flower Garden.
One hour later, our tour will conclude.
