Seville Cathedral + Giralda Small Group Guided Tour
Description
Do you wish to delve into the wonders of the Andalusian capital's iconic cathedral? Join this informative guided tour of Seville Cathedral, where we explore the grandest Gothic church globally, designed for a small group of up to 12 participants. Our journey also includes a visit to the renowned Giralda, a historic bell tower with Almohad roots.
Tour Overview
Are you prepared to uncover one of Christianity's monumental sites? Our meeting point is number 19 Calle Francos, and from there, we will stroll through the historic center toward the cathedral of this vibrant city.
Upon arrival, our guided exploration of Seville Cathedral in an intimate group of 12 will commence. We’ll begin by delving into its history, which traces back to the former aljama mosque of Isbilya, as the city was known during the Almohad era.
As we proceed, we'll showcase the prominent masterpieces of sacred art housed within the cathedral. A highlight is the magnificent Altarpiece, a remarkable piece initiated in the late 15th century by the artist Pedro Dancart. This ornate structure features intricate details and lifelike representations, particularly the depiction of Saint Mary Magdalene anointing Jesus' feet.
Our tour will further unveil some of the cathedral’s notable chapels, including the Royal Chapel, Main Chapel, Alabaster Chapels, and the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. We'll also reflect on significant figures interred here, among them Christopher Columbus.
To conclude our visit, we’ll ascend the ramps of the Giralda, reaching the summit of this ancient Almohad minaret. The ascent promises rewarding views over Seville from a breathtaking height of 90 m (295 ft).
We will finally descend to the base of the bell tower and exit the cathedral, wrapping up this engaging 1.5-hour experience.
