Seville Cathedral

Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1987 and later acknowledged as an Asset of Outstanding Universal Value in 2010, Seville Cathedral stands as the largest Gothic cathedral globally. It is an unmissable sight for any visitor to the city.

Upon your arrival at the splendid façade, you will uncover a multitude of secrets within this vast structure, which was constructed on the foundations of the former mosque. As the third-largest cathedral in the world, behind St. Peter's in Vatican City and St. Paul's in London, it boasts ten entry doors, with the main one being the Puerta de la Asunción. The Puerta del Príncipe, located by the Plaza del Triunfo, is particularly popular for its stunning architectural features.

Inside, you will be captivated by the sheer magnitude of the cathedral. The beauty and richness of its artistic treasures reflect a deep cultural heritage, highlighted by the impressive High Altarpiece, one of the most significant in existence. The Cathedral also houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus, alongside beautiful sections like the Royal Chapel, Main Chapel, Alabaster Chapel, and the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. With the audio guide, you’ll gain insight into these fascinating spaces!

Don’t forget to visit the Patio de los Naranjos, a tranquil space complemented by vibrant colors, which serves as a lasting reminder of its mosque origins. Take a moment to wander beneath its trees while appreciating the beautiful architectural details of the Cathedral.

Giralda

Although it serves as the bell tower of the Cathedral today, the Giralda was originally designed to be the minaret of the Almohad mosque. It now stands as one of the city's most iconic and frequently visited landmarks.

Constructed during the Muslim period and influenced by the Koutoubia in Marrakesh, the tower was completed in the Christian era. At a remarkable height of 104 meters (341 ft), the Giralda offers some of the finest vistas of Seville. Climbing to the top requires ascending 35 gentle ramps that were designed for horseback access.
