Seville Cathedral & Christopher Columbus' Tomb
Upon entering the cathedral, the vastness of its five Gothic naves will leave you in awe. You will wander through chapels adorned with outstanding works of art, notably the Retablo Mayor, recognized as one of the most stunning polychrome wooden altarpieces in Christian art.
The journey includes prominent sights such as the tomb of Christopher Columbus, the Capilla Real (Royal Chapel), the Main Chapel, and the Altar de la Inmaculada. After soaking in the sacred masterpieces, venture out to the serene Patio de los Naranjos (Courtyard of the Orange Trees), once used for ablutions, ideal for strolling amongst trees enlivened by sunshine and fragrant orange blossoms.
Ascent to the Giralda
The pinnacle of your visit will be the ascent to the Giralda, the iconic bell tower that originally served as a minaret, inspired by the renowned Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech. To ascend, you’ll navigate 35 gently inclined ramps, initially designed for horse-mounted guards.
Upon reaching the summit, which stands over 295 ft (90 m) tall, you'll be treated to unparalleled 360° views of the historic center of Seville, the Guadalquivir River, and the rooftops of the Santa Cruz district.
Church of San Salvador
Your experience continues! The ticket also grants entry to the Church of San Salvador, the second-largest church in Seville and a notable example of Baroque architectural style.
The comprehensive visit to the Seville Cathedral spans approximately 3 hours.
Operating Hours
The Seville Cathedral and the Giralda typically adhere to the following schedule:
- Monday to Saturday: available from 11 am to 7 pm
- Sundays: accessible from 2:30 pm to 7 pm
Do keep in mind that the last entry is one hour before closing, with facility evacuations commencing at 6:40 pm.

Important information

You cannot access the Seville Cathedral with flip-flops, shorts above the knees, tank tops, or uncovered shoulders. You'll need to bring your ID to show it at the entrance.
Opening Times
The Seville Cathedral and the Giralda are open at the following times:
- Monday to Saturday: open from 11 am to 7 pm
- Sundays: open from 2:30 pm to 7 pm
The final admission will always be 1 hour before closing time. The monument will be cleared from 6:40 pm.
