Day Trip Overview
At the scheduled hour, we will gather at the Renaissance Shanghai Yuyuan Hotel, situated in the bustling center of Shanghai. This will be the starting point for our thrilling adventure.
Prior to embarking on our excursion, we will explore the Old Town, focusing on the Chenghuang Historical Area. This vibrant section of Shanghai is rich in character, allowing us to fully appreciate its energetic atmosphere and cultural heritage.
Our next stop will be the enchanting Yu Garden, an exquisite representation of classical Chinese garden architecture. Here, we will enjoy its tranquil pavilions, koi-filled ponds, and meticulously crafted rock formations. Following our garden visit, we will indulge in a traditional lunch featuring authentic dishes from Shanghai and sample select local specialties.
After the meal, we will board our bus for an approximately one-hour drive to Zhujiajiao, a historic treasure located 50 km (30 mi) from Shanghai. Recognized as the best-preserved water town in the area, you will soon discover why this location is often referred to as the Venice of Shanghai!
Upon arrival in Zhujiajiao, we will wander through its traditional streets, appreciating the historic homes that line the canals. We will stroll across its scenic stone bridges, some of which date back over 5,000 years, while our guide shares captivating stories and folklore of the town.
After exploring for around 2.5 hours in Zhujiajiao, we will return to the bus and begin our journey back to Shanghai. Once back in the city, we will make a final stop at the famous Bund, where we can marvel at the impressive "World Architecture Gallery" as our guide uncovers the history behind these renowned structures.
In total, after 9 hours, we will conclude our tour here, leaving you the opportunity to continue your exploration of the Bund at your leisure.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand. The guide will be holding a sign saying "Mubus: Shanghai Discovery".
