Suzhou Day Trip
Description
Are you ready to explore the Venice of China? Join us on this day excursion to Suzhou, where you will encounter the city's unique canals and stunning stone bridges.
Excursion Overview
On the designated day, it will be necessary for you to arrive at the Shanghai train station independently. From there, you will board a train destined for our charming location. The journey will last around 30 minutes, culminating at the Suzhou train station.
Upon arriving, our guide will meet you in the South Plaza, specifically at the garden embellished with sculptures of notable historical figures, to kick off this exploration of Suzhou. Fun fact: this city is affectionately dubbed the Venice of China.
We will first visit the Lion Forest Garden, recognized as one of the four leading botanical gardens in the city. As we wander along the picturesque paths, you’ll marvel at its remarkable rock formations and observe the harmonious blend of Zen Buddhist elements with the exquisite design typical of traditional gardens in the Jiangnan region.
Following this, our tour will take us to the Suzhou Folk Museum, the pioneering museum in China focused on urban folklore. Here, we'll delve into local customs, spanning celebrations to culinary traditions. We will then take a leisurely stroll along Pingjiang Street, celebrated as Suzhou’s most iconic historical alley, where its scenic canals and quintessential white-walled houses will surely enchant you!
At midday, you will have 1 hour of free time for lunch at your leisure. Our guide will point you towards the finest eateries in the vicinity, known for their delightful local dishes.
Refreshed from lunch, we will proceed to Bao’en Temple, recognized as the oldest Buddhist temple in Suzhou. We will take in the beauty of its renowned pagoda, also known as the First Ancient Pagoda of Jiangnan, which is a must-visit in the region. To complete our tour, we will explore the Suzhou Silk Museum, where we will observe ancient garments adorned with dragon designs and learn about the rich heritage of this exquisite fabric.
In conclusion, our guide will accompany us back to Suzhou Station, where we'll board the train returning to Shanghai. Our estimated arrival at the Shanghai Station will be approximately 8 hours after the start of our journey.
