Cabarete Pottery Workshop

Workshop Details

Our traditional pottery workshop will take place at the Andrea Rabasa Creative & Educational Center in Cabarete, a tourist site on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, near Sosúa.

The workshop begins with an introduction to the natural clay from the Dominican mountains, followed by a discussion on the techniques and tools for modeling. This workshop aims to provide an enjoyable learning experience for all skill levels.

Participants will then create their own ceramic piece by molding it in the style of Taino art. Options include bowls, plates, sculptures, incense holders, trays, or any creation inspired by your creativity.

Throughout the workshop, we will use ancient Dominican modeling techniques. You will also have the option to enjoy a drink, selecting from mineral water, tea, or coffee.

The workshop lasts approximately 2 hours. At the end, we will explain the drying and baking process for the pieces, which can take 1 to 2 weeks. If time is limited, you may paint a baked piece to take home as a souvenir!
