Walking Tour of Södermalm

Upon arrival, you will meet your guide at the agreed location in Mariatorget, a lovely park and square located on Södermalm island. The journey begins with a visit to the Monteliusvägen viewpoint, where you’ll be greeted by breathtaking panoramic vistas of the Swedish capital, setting the stage for your exploration of this eclectic neighborhood.

As you continue the tour, you will make your way to the Maria Magdalena Church, distinguished by its striking yellow bell tower visible from various vantage points throughout the area. Here, you’ll uncover intriguing stories and visit the surrounding cemetery. Additionally, the narrative will touch upon notable personalities, including the significant scientist Polhem.

Your next stop takes you to one of the key landmarks of Södermalm: the Södra Latin. From there, you will stroll along Götgatan Street, the buzzing artery of the neighborhood that runs across the island from Gamlastan to Skanstull. In the distance, the impressive silhouette of the Avicii Arena will be visible.

As the tour progresses, you’ll head towards another area to admire Katarina Church and the striking mural of the twins. Continuing the exploration, you will arrive at the Södra Teatern, known for its alternative performances. A poignant statue of two women, linked to narratives of LGBTI-related tragedies, adds depth to the surroundings.

Ultimately, your 2.5-hour experience culminates at the Stockholm City Museum's esplanade, where you will encounter a scale model of the planet Mercury, concluding this captivating journey.
