Activity Overview

Day 1: Arrival at Surabaya Airport

As your Indonesian journey begins, a guide will meet you at Juanda International Airport or the Surabaya train station. Your adventure continues with a scenic drive through the verdant countryside of East Java toward your accommodation near Mount Bromo for the night.

The journey from Surabaya, approximately three hours long, includes a break for a satisfying lunch to energize before resting up for an early start the following day.

Day 2: Experience at Mount Bromo

Your day starts before dawn, departing the hotel at 3:30 am to catch the sunrise in all its glory. Climbing into an all-terrain Jeep, you will travel towards Gunung Penanjakan, a viewpoint soaring over 9,000 feet (2,770 meters) above sea level. Here, you will witness one of the world’s most stunning sunrises, as the Bromo and Seremu volcanoes bask in the morning light—a sight that promises to remain etched in your memory.

Following this unforgettable spectacle, you will make your way down into the volcano's caldera, edging closer to the active Mount Bromo. To fully immerse yourself in this unique landscape, you will ascend the volcano's slopes on horseback.

After soaking in the breathtaking vistas from the top of Gunung Bromo, you'll return to the hotel for a deserved breakfast, before heading off to your next destination, Ketapang, also known as Kalipuro, where you can relax and recharge for another exciting day ahead.

Day 3: Ijen – Ketapang – Bali

On the final day of your excursion, there's still much to explore!

You will convene in the hotel lobby at 2 am, setting out to explore the Ijen volcanoes, renowned as the blue volcano of Indonesia. The landscape features the distinctive blue lava, a phenomenon we will discuss, even though safety considerations prevent us from viewing it directly. Are you aware of the reasons behind the unique coloration of this magma? We’ll provide insights and fascinating facts about this extraordinary crater.

After experiencing the remarkable beauty of East Java, you will head back to Ketapang to board a ferry to Gilimanuk on the neighboring island of Bali, marking the conclusion of your three-day exploration of Indonesian volcanoes.

Accommodation During the Tour

This three-day tour includes two nights of accommodation with breakfast. The following are the hotels where you will stay:

• Mount Bromo (first night): Lava View Lodge Hotel or similar. From 2026, the accommodation will be Lereng Hotel Bromo or comparable.
• Ketapang (second night): Ketapang Indah Hotel or similar.
