Hiking Itinerary

Day 1: São Luís - Barreirinhas - Atins

Our journey commences at the Stop Way Hotel São Luís, where you can fuel up with breakfast. Soon after, we will set off on a scenic drive to Barreirinhas, lasting around 4 hours. Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, we will journey to the Preguiças River, boarding a boat that will transport us to Atins.

As we navigate the river, marvel at the magnificent dunes adorned with turquoise lagoons, passing by the Mandacaru lighthouse and the picturesque beach at Atins. Once we arrive, you'll have the chance to check into your accommodation and spend the evening dining and exploring the charming town at your leisure. Until tomorrow!

Day 2: Atins - Baixa Grande

On the second day, we’ll rise with the sun, enjoy breakfast, and embark on an off-road adventure towards Canto de Atins. Here, our first hiking trail awaits, covering a distance of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) through the mesmerizing dunes, with opportunities to cool off in the refreshing waters along the way. We’ll eventually arrive at Baixa Grande, a quaint village, where a delicious lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

After your meal, the early afternoon will be yours to relax and take in the stunning sunset over the Lençóis Maranhenses. We will regroup for dinner, wrapping up the day at our cozy accommodation.

Day 3: Baixa Grande - Queimada dos Britos

The third day will begin with breakfast to energize us for a 12-kilometer (7.4-mile) trek. As we set off, we will traverse the central dunes of the national park. Prepare your cameras for incredible photos amidst breathtaking scenery, as we take breaks to enjoy the serene lagoons.

Before you know it, we will reach our destination, Queimada dos Britos. After a hearty lunch, you'll have the remainder of the afternoon at your disposal to unwind and explore this beautiful location.

In the evening, we will gather for dinner and bid farewell for the night at our lodge—see you in the morning!

Day 4: Queimada dos Britos - Betânia

Get ready for the longest hiking adventure of our trip? We’ll kick off the day with a hearty breakfast, lace up our boots, and embark on a challenging 18-kilometer (11.1-mile) hike towards the village of Betânia. On this trek, we’ll explore the stunning coastline of theAlegre River, taking in a horizon painted in soft hues by the surrounding dunes.

Upon arriving in Betânia, we’ll follow our usual routine of enjoying lunch before granting you the rest of the afternoon for leisure. As night falls, we’ll share a meal and share stories of the day before winding down at our accommodation. Good night!

Day 5: Betânia - Santo Amaro

After a restful night, we'll begin our day with breakfast in anticipation of a thrilling adventure: a kayaking expedition along the Alegre River. Once everyone is equipped, we will embark on a journey covering 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) until we reach Santo Amaro. Get ready to paddle while surrounded by the spectacular views characteristic of the Lençóis Maranhenses.

After arriving, the first order of business is to check into the lodge. After settling in, we’ll enjoy lunch, followed by free time to relax in the community of Santo Amaro. For dinner, feel free to explore local dining options at your discretion.

Day 6: Santo Amaro - São Luís

On our final morning, we will gather for breakfast before check-out. Around 8 am, we will commence our return trip to São Luís, heading directly to São Luís International Airport to ensure you have ample time to catch your flight back home.
