Our journey begins at the designated meeting point in Sólheimajökull, where we'll equip ourselves with essential gear to prepare for our glacier expedition. Following this, we’ll enjoy a short 15-minute walk leading us to the Sólheimajökull glacier, which is a segment of the impressive Mýrdalsjökull glacier, known as one of the largest glaciers in Iceland.

The duration of our hike will be roughly between 60 to 90 minutes, as we take in the stunning fissures of the glacier and the captivating glacier mills, where waterfalls come alive in the ice formations. Along the way, we will also explore the intriguing phenomenon of volcanic ash intertwined within the glacier.

As we traverse this rocky, white terrain, a sense of otherworldliness will engulf you, resembling a stroll on the moon. Situated atop the Katla volcano, the glacier has sculpted an astonishing landscape akin to that found in science fiction movies!

Upon concluding our hike, we'll return to our starting location.

Practical Information

• The trek is classified as medium difficulty, therefore it's advisable for individuals with heart conditions to refrain from joining.
• The hiking duration spans approximately one hour across uneven terrain.
• Participants must be at least 8 years old to participate in this tour.
• During winter excursions, warm, waterproof attire and sturdy walking boots are essential. For summer hikes, a rain jacket is recommended. We will supply the necessary technical gear for the adventure, including helmets, crampons, and headlamps.
