Description

Explore the rich history of Taiwan’s oldest city along with its significant landmarks in this private Tainan tour. Experience a delightful walk through its iconic locations!

Tour Overview

Are you interested in discovering the intricate past of Taiwan’s earliest urban settlement? This private tour of Tainan commences at number 2 on Nanmen Street. Once we gather, our first stop will be the Confucius Temple, which is recognized as the island's inaugural educational institution, established back in 1665. Let’s embark on this historical expedition!

During the next hour, we will stroll through the tranquil courtyards adorned with traditional red rooftops. Here, we will delve into the principles of loyalty and integrity that have influenced the community's mindset. Did you know that imperial examinations took place here that had the power to transform a family’s future?

Next, we will weave through the narrow alleys of Tainan that tell the tale of the sea dragon king's sons, guiding us towards the Chihkan Tower.

For almost an hour, we will explore this historical site, also referred to as Fort Provintia. Constructed by the Dutch in the 17th century, its walls narrate stories of conquests, alliances, and cultural conflicts. This fortification witnessed the power struggles among empires vying for dominion over the Pacific.

Our journey will conclude at the Grand Mazu Temple, where we can admire the intricate, flowing roofs embellished with mythological figures that symbolize Taoist spirituality. We will explore the deities that provide guidance to sailors, traders, and even those seeking companionship. Did you know many locals visit this temple to gain insight before embarking on significant life choices?

After a fulfilling experience of 2.5 hours, we will part ways in front of this final temple.
