Established in 1958 as a small shop selling cooking oil, the restaurant was co-founded by Bing-Yi Yang and his spouse, Pen-Mei Lai. As the oil trade began to dwindle, the couple transformed part of their shop into a dining venue in 1972, introducing the beloved xiaolongbao. Their dumplings quickly rose to fame, earning the establishment recognition from The New York Times as one of the top 10 restaurants globally.

Due to its widespread appeal, the restaurant has expanded into a chain with locations across the globe, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Nevertheless, it continues to embody the spirit of the original venue in Taipei, where its remarkable journey began.

The restaurant welcomes guests every day from 11 am to 6:30 pm, allowing you to visit at your convenience during this timeframe.

Due to its immense popularity, be prepared for possible waits of 30 minutes or more for seating. Occasionally, it may be fully booked. It’s advisable to arrive early if you want to avoid long queues.
