Day Trip to Villa Rica & the Oconal Lagoon

Embark on a thrilling day trip to Villa Rica and the El Oconal Lagoon, recognized as the coffee capital of the Pasco region. This journey promises to unveil stunning natural vistas and includes a charming boat ride.

Itinerary Highlights:

Our expedition starts at Tarma's Plaza de Armas at the designated meeting time, setting off towards Villa Rica and the El Oconal Lagoon. Let's begin this memorable adventure!

As we journey through the province of Oxapampa, we traverse a culturally rich area that was historically home to the Campas, Amueshas, and Cashibos tribes. En route, we will discuss the intriguing histories and traditions of these indigenous populations.

Our first stop is Villa Rica, celebrated as a coffee hub in Peru. A guided exploration of Villa Rica will take us to visit notable sites, including the quaint wooden chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary and the picturesque Plaza de Armas.

Before we leave Villa Rica, we will tour a local coffee farm, where you’ll gain insights into the art of Peru's renowned coffee production, from its growth stages to processing and tasting.

The next phase of our journey leads us to the enchanting El Oconal Lagoon, a serene wetland that showcases a variety of flora and fauna. Prepare to be amazed by the stunning scenery and the rich biodiversity of this expansive reservoir—an ideal opportunity for remarkable photography. Additionally, we will enjoy a traditional boat ride on the placid waters of El Oconal.

To enhance our lagoon visit, unwind with a relaxing ichthyotherapy session. On our return journey to Tarma, we will stop by the picturesque El León waterfall.

After approximately 14 hours of exploration, we will return to our starting point, concluding a day filled with adventure and discovery.
