Tavira Tourist Train

The tourist train in Tavira offers a 50-minute journey through the city’s most significant landmarks and sites.

The adventure begins at Rua Jaques Pessoa, 2. From there, we will proceed to the fishing port, where you can take in the stunning coastal views of the Algarve, as well as a visit to the local market. Our route then includes a stop at the Vila Galé Hotel, after which we will continue toward the picturesque Gilão River, an ideal spot for bird watching.

If you have yet to explore the salt pans of Tavira, fear not! We'll admire this remarkable scenery during our train ride. Subsequently, the journey will lead us to the old town, rich in history, where we will encounter several monuments including the Islamic Museum, Nossa Senhora da Piedade Chapel, Hermitage of Sao Roque, and the notable Tavira Castle, a medieval structure set within a lovely garden.

Continuing our train journey, we will discover additional notable sites within this enchanting city, such as the Santa Maria do Castelo Church, Pousada do Convento da Graça, and the historic Santiago Bridge.

Finally, we will conclude our tour by returning to our starting location.
