Speleology Adventure in the Sacred Mantle Cave

Your journey begins as we pick you up at 8:00 am from your hotel in Tingo Maria, heading towards Huayna Capac, the site of the renowned Sacred Mantle Cave.

After a brief drive of approximately thirty minutes, we will arrive at the trailhead and initiate a 25-minute hike through the enchanting Peruvian jungle. Our destination, the magnificent Sacred Mantle Cave, a geological wonder shaped over millions of years, awaits us.

Once equipped with helmets and headlamps, we will commence our exploration, diving into a world filled with intricate stalactite and stalagmite formations, alongside hidden lagoons. As we navigate the cave, you’ll observe marvelous rock structures in stunning configurations, including the impressive cathedral formation.

The adventure progresses as we descend deeper, reaching an astonishing depth of 350 meters. Here, we will discover the enchanting underground waterfall of the Sacred Mantle, where water cascades dramatically down a 15-meter cliff, disappearing through the mysterious Tragadero del Misterio (Mystery Gully). What secrets could lie within this intriguingly named site?

During our excursion, we will take a moment to enjoy a picnic lunch of your choosing before we begin our ascent back to the surface. Once outside, we will make our way back to Huayna Capac, where transportation will be ready to take you back to your hotel in Tingo Maria, with a return time expected around 5:00 pm.
