Huamantla & Tlaxco Excursion

Your day begins between 9 and 9:30 am, with a convenient pickup from a location of your choice. We will board a minibus and set off towards our first destination: the captivating town of Huamantla.

Erected at an altitude of 2,400 meters (7874 feet) and known for its rich cattle-raising heritage, Huamantla enchants visitors with its exquisite Art Nouveau architecture and an array of charming churches and chapels. During our exploration of the historic center, we will also stop by a puppet museum, which features an impressive collection of 500 puppets, integral to the local cultural narrative.

After our visit, we will regroup and proceed to Tlaxco, making a notable detour to the quaint village of José María Morelos Buenavista. Here, we will explore the Barca de la Fe, a church modeled after the Santa Maria, the vessel that joined Christopher Columbus on his expedition to the 'New World'.

Following this, we will enter a 'pulque hacienda', where you will gain insights into the crafting of one of Mexico's most distinguished beverages: pulque. This traditional drink, derived from the fermented sap of the maguey agave plant, will be available for tasting. Afterward, we will sit down for a delightful two-course lunch with dessert and beverages at the hacienda's restaurant.

The final highlight of our day will be exploring the Magical Town of Tlaxco, another of Mexico's highest towns, accompanying Huamantla. We will stroll through the picturesque old town, taking in its colonial architecture while learning about the local history. Additionally, our guided tour will include a visit to an artisan cheese factory, further immersing us in the region's culinary treasures.

We will conclude our adventure as we return to the original pickup points between 4:30 pm and 5 pm.
