Tour Options
When you book your experience, you can select from three distinct hiking trails. All excursions commence at 8 am from Calzada del Pacífico road in Toluca de Lerdo and are accompanied by an English-speaking guide.
Tunnels Route (7 hours)
Once we arrive at the Nevado de Toluca National Park, our thrilling hike through the volcanic terrain will begin. This 10-kilometer trek takes us through pathways enriched with fir, cedar, and pine trees, where we will encounter tunnels hidden within the mountain. Throughout our journey, we will share insights about the history and purpose of these tunnels!
As we progress, we will reach a stunning
Cañada Route (8 hours)
Beginning at the base of the Nevado de Toluca National Park, we will embark on a 7-kilometer hike, tracing the path of one of the rivers cascading from the volcano. As we traverse the trail, we will discover clearings and tunnels, learning about their historical significance!
We will then cross the river to arrive at a lake, where we will be treated to breathtaking views from an elevation exceeding 9,500 feet (2,900 meters). Here, a 45-minute interval allows for relaxation while soaking in the stunning scenery. The adventure will conclude with our return to the parking area by 3 pm.
Hill Route (9 hours)
On reaching the base of the Nevado de Toluca National Park, we will commence a 13-kilometer hiking route that leads us across varied slopes and through ancient tunnels. Upon achieving an altitude of approximately 10,500 feet (3,200 meters), we will take a moment to relax for 45 minutes and capture spectacular photographs of the surrounding landscape.
Following the river, we will discover a clearing showcasing astonishing views of the park, before continuing along a forest path to observe the unique characteristics of the wildlife inhabiting this region. By 5 pm, we will complete our hike with a return to the parking area.
Meeting Point
We will convene at 8 am on Calzada del Pacífico road. From there, you will drive alongside the guide to the foothills of the Nevado de Toluca National Park, where we will park our vehicles and commence our hiking adventure.

Important information
At 8 am, we'll meet at the entrance of Farmacias Guadalajara on Calzada del Pacífico road (Calzada del Pacífico, Esq. Alpinismo No.1500, Delegación San Buenaventura, 50110 Toluca de Lerdo, Méx., México). We recommend being ready at the meeting point 10 minutes in advance to avoid delays on the tour.
Important
It's important that you bring a mask, hand sanitizer, a water bottle, hiking shoes, a sweatshirt, a raincoat, a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Bringing hiking poles is optional.
